The information has been confirmed by Motorola Germany

It looks like Motorola is the second major handset maker to commit to Android L updates, after HTC announced earlier this week that it would offer the upgrade to its One M7 and One M8 within 90 days of its release.

The folks over at BGR have spotted a post on Motorola Germany’s official Facebook page that confirmed that the Android L update would be available for Moto X and Moto G sometime this fall: “Android 5.0 arrives in autumn on Moto X and Moto G. Do you like the new design?”

Obviously, the release of the update depends on when exactly Google plans to launch the final version of Android L. Speaking of which, Nexus 5 and Nexus 7 (2013) users can now download Android L Developer Preview to get a glimpse of what the new operating system has to offer.

For the time being, it’s unclear whether or not “Android L” is just a temporary name for the preview version of the platform. Seeing how major handset makers are calling the upcoming OS Android 5.0, we can’t help but think that Google will surely think of something “sweet.”

Joke aside, if the information provided by Motorola Germany proves to be accurate, Moto X and Moto G owners should get the latest version of Android on their devices by the end of the year.

Updated: It looks like Motorola did not officially confirm the above. The Facebook page quoted has nothing to do with Motorola Mobility. Sorry folks, but here is the company's official statement regarding the issue:
"Unfortunately, we have found that a Facebook profile under the name “Motorola Germany” with the following URL facebook.com/MotoDACH/ was created. We would like to point out that this is not an official Motorola site and expressly distance ourselves from said content. All relevant information about Motorola can be found only here on this page"
