Microsoft is on a roll with Cortana, as the company continues to add new features and improvements to one of the best intelligent personal assistants available on mobile platforms.
The Redmond has just delivered a new service update for Cortana that adds predictions. But not just any sorts of predictions. It looks like Cortana has been taught a lot more about football, or soccer for some of our readers.
Marcus Ash, group program manager for Cortana on Windows Phone, was kind enough to share the information with us in a tweet, so football fans who are also Windows Phone 8.1 early adopters should try out the new feature.
As you might have noticed from the screenshot, Cortana now offers predictions on the upcoming 2014 FIFA World Cup matches, but this is likely to extend to future matches between the two teams.
There doesn't seems to be any other new features included in this update, but this is a well-aimed feature that comes at the right moment.
This opens up a new direction for Cortana, as developers could add prediction for other sports or major tournaments in future updates.
According to Marcus, the update is now live, so everyone owning a Cortana-compatible device should give it a go; apparently, it's a lot of fun. Thumbs up!
