Mobile phone users in the United States interested in receive a free Windows Phone handset will be able to get one this weekend, as part of a promotion that the Redmond-based software giant is holding in all of its stores in the US and Canada.

Those who will enter a Microsoft retail store on May 3 or May 4 will have the chance to win a free Windows Phone handset through the Opportunity Rings Instant Win game, the company has declared.

Microsoft has announced the deal on its Facebook page and has also unveiled that each of its retail locations will be offering 8 phones per day. That’s 16 handsets per store over the weekend, and there are over 80 Microsoft Stores participating in the promotion, it seems.

“Come into a Microsoft store on May 3rd and 4th for a chance to win a free Windows Phone! We are giving away 8 phones per day, per store through the Opportunity Rings Instant Win game. Available in all US stores – full-line and specialty,” Microsoft has said.

The company has not explained specifically how said devices will be given to users, as Neowin notes, but those of you who will get the chance to step into one of the company’s stores this weekend will certainly learn more on the matter. Details on what devices that will be offered haven't been provided either.
