Today is a great day for Windows Phone fans, as Microsoft announced Windows 10 for Phones will be released this summer. In addition, the company confirmed a new partnership with Xiaomi, but also another one with Lenovo.

There have been lots of rumors in the past concerning a possible Windows Phone handset coming from Lenovo, but the Chinese company did not release any smartphones powered by Microsoft's mobile platform yet.

However, that is about to change this year, as Microsoft announced that Lenovo would launch its first Windows Phones handsets in mid-year 2015.

Unfortunately, they will be available via major carrier China Mobile, which means they will be limited to China initially.

Although no additional details on these devices have been unveiled, we hope Lenovo's Windows Phone handsets will be released in more countries this year. Here is Microsoft's official statement regarding Lenovo's upcoming smartphones:

“Lenovo, one of the world’s leading PC manufacturers, announced they will offer Windows 10 upgrade services at 2,500 service centers and select retail stores in China when the Windows 10 upgrade is available.

“This will help customers quickly and easily upgrade their new or existing Windows devices to Windows 10. Lenovo also announced their commitment to build Windows phones, to be available in mid-year 2015 via China Mobile.”
