Good news for Facebook fans who own Windows Phone handsets, as Microsoft has just confirmed that the Messenger application will be coming to its mobile platform.

Techcrunch reports that the information has recently been confirmed by Microsoft's Joe Belfiore while speaking at the company's press and analyst event, which took place over the weekend at Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2014 trade fair, in Barcelona.

According to Belfiore, Microsoft has “been working with Facebook testing out their implementation for a while. It’s looking good and we will have it for our customers soon.”

He has also announced that there are now more than 200,000 applications on Windows Phone Store and that many more will be coming in the next few weeks.

“There’s a number of more great apps coming soon. Stay tuned as you hear about more compelling demanded user apps coming for Windows Phone,” he said.
