Redmond-based software giant Microsoft has reportedly managed to resolve an issue with the search results in the Windows Phone Store, so that users can receive access to relevant applications easier than before.

Apparently, the company has implemented a new algorithm in the portal, so that users will no longer be spammed with applications that they are not interested in when looking in categories as Top Games or Top Apps.

To be more precise, the new algorithm will take into consideration a series of factors that should encourage quality, as WMPoweruser notes.

Thus, software will be rated in accordance with its performance levels, as well as based on the customer satisfaction ratings it receives.

The new system will also have a look at the frequency at which an application is pinned or unpinned from the start screen, while also taking into consideration the number of crashes that users experience with it.

Previously, the ratings were based mainly on the number of downloads that applications had, but things will get better moving forth, and both users and legitimate developers will have a lot to gain from this.

This means that users will see relevant titles when accessing the Top Games category in the Windows Phone Store. The same should happen for other sections of the portal as well.
