Indian mobile phone maker Micromax is reportedly gearing up for the release of an Android-based smartphone powered by a Snapdragon 800 processor and will target it at the recently released Xiaomi Mi3.

According to a recent article on gadgetstouse, the upcoming device will arrive on shelves with a price tag of under Rs. 15,000 ($250/€186) – most probably at around Rs. 12,000 ($200/€149) –, yet no specific info on when we might see it made available for purchase has been provided as of now.

The handset is expected to go official with a 5-inch touchscreen display capable of delivering a Full HD resolution, while also packing 2GB of RAM to go along with the aforementioned quad-core processor.

Moreover, the upcoming phone is said to have a 13-megapixel camera on the back, most probably with full HD video recording, while featuring a 5MP front camera for snapping selfies and for making video calls while on the go.

When released, the handset should also include 16GB of internal memory, along with a microSD memory card slot with support for up to 64GB of additional storage space. It will be powered by a 2600mAh battery, rumor has it.

The yet unannounced Micromax smartphone will run under the Android 4.4 KitKat operating system right out of the box and should prove a worthy competitor for Xiaomi’s Mi3 device, which has already been released in India.
