On Friday, Micromax officially kicked off the pre-booking period for a new smartphone in India, namely Canvas 4, which is set to be officially launched on July 8, and the company has already unveiled info on how initial sales went.

According to a recent tweet from the mobile phone maker, the smartphone landed over 4,000 pre-orders in the first seven hours of availability, with more expected to be placed before the official release.

“[…] the pre-booking started at 12 PM & as of 7 PM, we have already received 4081 orders & counting for the #MicromaxCanvas4,” the company noted in the aforementioned tweet.

Soon, the handset vendor should provide details on how pre-booking went during the first 24 hours, which should tell us whether the new device could prove more popular than the A110 Canvas HD, which enjoyed over 9,000 pre-orders in the first day, as BGR.in notes.
