The update is pushed OTA (over the air) in stages

Micromax promised last year it would upgrade some of its smartphones to Android 5.0 Lollipop, but few have been updated so far to the latest version of the OS available on the market.

That probably led to some level of distrust between Micromax and its customers. On a more positive note, the Indian company has announced that Unite 2, one of its most popular smartphones, is now getting the long-awaited Android 5.0 Lollipop update.

The update is pushed OTA (over the air) in stages, so it might not be available to all devices at the same time. If you haven't been notified on the update until now, you can manually search for it by heading to Settings / About phone / Software update. If it doesn't appear yet, then you should try again later.

According to Micromax, the Android 5.0 Lollipop file is about 400MB in size, but you will need at least 1GB of free space in order to upgrade. Also, you should make sure that your phone's battery is at least 40% charged before starting the update process.

That being said, let's hope more Micromax smartphones launched last year will be getting the update, though, by the time they do, Google might have already released Android M.
