Karbonn seems to be the first Indian OEM to announce a hexa-core smartphone, the Titanium Hexa, which will be available for purchase in early April for Rs 16,990 ($275 / €200).

However, its main competitor, Micromax, plans to introduce a similar device as well. The information has been confirmed by Micromax Co-founder Vikas Jain who told GadgetsToUse that his company will launch as hexa-core smartphone by the end of April.

Even if Micromax’s smartphone doesn’t make it to market ahead of Karbonn’s hexa-core device, it might get bigger sales if it’s priced lower than the Titanium Hexa.

Micromax’s upcoming smartphone will be equipped with the same MediaTek MT6591 chipset that powers the Karbonn Titanium Hexa as well.

Both Karbonn and Micromax hexa-core smartphones will compete on the Indian market with Samsung’s Galaxy Note 3 Neo, but the fight seems to be over before it even began due to exceptionally high price of the latter, Rs. 38,990 ($630 / €454).

No additional details on Micromax’s hexa-core smartphone have been disclosed yet, but we expect more information to emerge in the coming weeks.

It appears that April will be a very busy month for the Indian company that is expected to launch its dual-OS (Windows / Android) LapTab laptop-tablet hybrid.
