Nokia has long said that it wanted to push the Windows Phone 8 operating system to lower price tags in order to gain some more market share, and the Lumia 520 smartphone that was made official at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona yesterday was one new step it took in this direction.

The new device was designed specifically for budget-conscious users, but it does pack features that bring it in line with higher-rated smartphones.

It was made official with a 4-inch screen, a dual-core processor inside, 512MB of RAM, 8GB of internal memory, microSD card slot, and a 5-megapixel camera on the back.

At the same time, Nokia loaded the new phone with its exclusive applications for the Windows Phone 8 platform, such as Nokia Music, as well as with all the location software that has arrived on all WP8 devices starting yesterday.
