Following a wide range of rumors, the 7-inch Fonepad tablet PC from ASUS went official today at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, and Softpedia’s editors were there to have a closer look at the device.

Just as mentioned in our previous report on the matter, the new device was launched with 3G voice capabilities, aimed at delivering both smartphone and tablet PC capabilities to its users, in a small, compact design.

For those who might have missed the announcement, we should mention that the device arrives on shelves with a 1.2 GHz Intel Atom Z2420 processor inside, 1GB RAM, 8/16 GB internal memory, and a microSD memory card slot.

Furthermore, it sports a 3MP camera on the back, a 1.2MP front camera, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 3.0, and GPS capabilities, and a 4,270 mAh battery, while being set to arrive on shelves in Titanium gray and Champagne gold color flavors, with Android 4.1 on top.
