Chinese company Lenovo is focusing its entire smartphone business on Android, but that may slightly change as the handset maker is determined to put its eggs in multiple baskets.

The next basket for Lenovo would be Microsoft. WPCentral reports the folks over at Russian blog WP7Forum.ru claim that a “trusted source” tipped them on Lenovo's not plans regarding Windows Phone platform.

Well, it appears that the Chinese company has finally decided to brings its first Windows Phone 8.1 to the market. The smartphone may be announced sometime in April and will be released on the market “by early summer.”

Although this won't be a high-tier smartphone, Windows Phone fans will be pleased to know Lenovo's device will still be on-par other handsets in the same range.

The upcoming Lenovo smartphone powered by Windows Phone 8.1 is said to be equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 or 600 processor and a 4.5- or 5-inch display.

The device might be initially launched in Russia for around 15,000 rubles (€300 / $415) outright, but it may be price much lower in other countries.

The probability of Lenovo launching a Windows Phone 8.1 handset in the next couple of months is pretty high given the recent company's acceptance among Microsoft new partners.
