We have recently reported on the latest smartphone launched by Lava in India, the 3G 354 and now it looks like the company is planning to release yet another Android smartphone.

However, this time, Lava Mobiles is said to come up with an affordable smartphone powered by Android 4.4 KitKat operating system. Indian blog site Gogi.com reports that Lava Iris X1 will be the first in the X series that comes with a large 4.5-inch IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen display.

Unfortunately, there are no details on the screen’s supported resolution, but it might feature HD (720p) resolution. In addition, the Lava Iris X1 has also been confirmed to pack an enhanced 8-megapixel rear-facing camera with autofocus, LED flash and full HD (1080p) video recording.

But the main selling point of the smartphone would be the fact that it ships with Android 4.4 KitKat. There are no details on the Iris X1’s exact release date or price tag, but according to the cited source, it might go on sale soon for only Rs 8,000 outright, which is about $135 or €95.

More details on the phone’s specs are expected to be unveiled the moment Lava Iris X1 appears on the Indian OEM’s official website. Stay tuned for more updates on the matter.
