Mobile phone carrier Sprint is expected to bring LTE handsets to its network in the not too distant future.

One of the smartphones that would become available for purchase at the carrier is said to be coming from HTC, and should sport the codename HTC Jewel. It might run under Android.

Rumor has it that this will be a high-end device, and that it might even become the first LTE smartphone from the wireless carrier.

At the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, HTC unveiled to the world a new family of devices, the “One” series, and the new smartphone could be part of that lineup.

The wireless carrier should also add handsets from other vendors to its LTE offering, the same as rival wireless carriers did. However, the company has yet to make any plans on the matter official.
