South Korean mobile phone maker LG Electronics is reportedly getting ready to make some changes to the branding of its smartphones, lowering the importance of the Optimus lineup, it seems.

According to a recent article on Chosun.Biz, the company is planning on launching a new series of high-end devices, but without the Optimus name attached.

In fact, it seems that it will be using the branding only for mid-range and lower spec’d handsets, and that the flagship smartphones will be named differently, AndroidCommunity notes.

No official confirmation on the matter has been provided as of now, and it remains to be seen whether LG is indeed planning on making such a radical change to the branding of its smartphones, especially since the Optimus series proved quite successful so far. Stay tuned for more on this.
