South Korean mobile phone maker LG Electronics has officially confirmed plans to bring an update to its LG G2 and G Flex devices as soon as the next month, in the form of Knock Code.

The feature, made official earlier this year as the successor of LG’s Knock On feature, was designed to deliver more features to users when compared to the predecessor.

The company unveiled the Knock On functionality alongside LG G2 last year, but it appears that the company already feels that it needs an update.

For those out of the loop, we should note that Knock Code has been designed to divide the screen of the smartphone into four invisible quadrants, allowing users to unlock it in various taps / knocks combinations.

“LG engineers placed a great amount of emphasis on providing users with exceptional security and convenience when developing Knock Code,” Dr. Jong-seok Park, president and CEO of LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company, said, according to AndroidOS.

“Making Knock Code accessible to a wider audience is consistent with our direction to differentiate LG mobile devices on the basis of user experience,” he added.

LG hasn’t confirmed a specific release date for the new software update, but users will receive it sometime next month, it seems. Stay tuned for more on the matter.
