LG Optimus Black made its debut on the market in May 2011 and arrived in India several weeks later.

The smartphone was launched with Android 2.2 Froyo onboard, but LG provided a Gingerbread upgrade last year.

However, the South Korean company promised that an Ice Cream Sandwich update would be available as well.

Almost two years after its debut on the market, LG Optimus Black finally receives the long-awaited Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich update.

According to AndroidOS, Optimus Black owners will be able to upgrade their devices via LG Mobile Support Tool. For the time being there are no reports that the update might be available OTA (over the air).

Keep in mind that the update is pushed through in waves, which means that it won’t be available to all Optimus Black owners at the same time.
