South Korean mobile phone maker LG Electronics is gearing up for the launch of new smartphones at the upcoming Mobile World Congress in Barcelona this month, and some of the latest reports on the matter suggest that it might launch Windows Phone 8 handsets there.

The vendor has already confirmed plans to release new Windows Phone smartphones this year, but no specific details on their landing has been provided as of now.

However, following recent teases from the company, in the form of a photo published on Facebook and a video pointing at a new unveiling at MWC, new rumor has it that a device powered by Microsoft’s mobile operating system would be in the works.

If so, it means that we will see LG’s WP8 handsets on shelves in the first half of the year, expanding the available options for enthusiasts.
