LG will roll out a spin-off of its flagship

We've been hearing rumors about LG launching a “Lite” version of its G4 flagship, and it looks like the cheaper device will be called the LG G4 Mini after all, not “Lite.”

The phone has showed up in the Vodafone database in Hungary, listed in the M category, meaning that we’re dealing with a mid-range device (as seen at Tech2).

According to the listing, the handset will arrive with a 5-inch 720p display and will draw power from a Snapdragon 615 chipset fitted with 2GB of RAM. The phone will probably don a 13MP camera on the back without any fancy optical stabilization unit like in the case of the G4.

The phone is also tipped to arrive with 4G and NFC capabilities. So LG joins the ranks of other companies that are offering decently-specced mid-rangers. The presence of the octa-core Snapdragon 615 should entice some users to pick up the phone. If it comes with an affordable price tag, that is.

There’s no word on whether LG is going to offer the Mini version with the same leather-clad back, but if that happens, the handset would have a better chance at convincing customers it is worth their buck.

It remains to be seen whether LG launches the G4 Mini outside Europe. The phone should become available in June.
