LG promised it will offer the latest Android 4.4 KitKat upgrade to G2 owners beginning later this month. However, the handset maker confirmed the update will only be available in South Korea initially.

According to Phonearena, LG has just started the rollout of the Android 4.4 KitKat update in South Korea, though we can expect to arrive in other countries as well next year. The update is about 637MB in size, so it's recommended to download it via Wi-Fi network.

It appears that for the time being, LG G2 owners who purchased their smartphone via KT carrier are eligible for the update, but SK Telecom and LG U+ users are likely to get it as well by the end of the year.

There's no changelog available for this major update, but much of the new features and improvements of Android 4.4 KitKat have already been detailed by Google.
