The smartphone will remain on Android 4.4.x KitKat

It looks like LG has taken some weird decision in the last couple of months. After choosing to upgrade the G3 directly to Android M even though the last update delivered by the company basically broke the phone's software completely, we now hear that the G Flex won't get Lollipop at all.

The information has been recently confirmed by LG Brasil in reply to a G Flex owner who wanted to know whether or not his smartphone will be upgraded to Android 5.0 Lollipop, but not necessarily when.

According to LG Brasil, the LG G Flex will not be upgrade to another version of Android and will remain on the current iteration. This means that those who own the device will be stuck on Android 4.4.x KitKat unless they install an unofficial ROM.

LG G Flex has been released on the market back in November 2013, so the smartphone could have been easily upgraded to Lollipop by now.

Google recommends handset makers to offer major OS updates for their high-end smartphones about 18 months after their release. That timeframe ended in May, so it looks like LG G Flex's faith has been sealed and we have the confirmation on that.

Thanks for the tip Michel!
