The company does not offer users the possibility to unlock it
If you were looking forward to grabbing LG’s new Optimus G smartphone to install custom software on it, you might want to think twice before doing so.The South Korean mobile phone maker has officially confirmed that the smartphone does not arrive on shelves with an unlocked bootloader.
In fact, the company said that its “Optimus G doesn’t support an unlocked bootloader,” a recent article on Android Central reads.
While this does not mean that the bootloader won’t be cracked open by enthusiasts and modders out there, it does suggest that LG is focused on keeping its devices tightly secure.
Other mobile phone makers out there, including HTC, Motorola, Samsung and Sony, approach this from a totally different perspective, providing users with the possibility to easily unlock their devices should they want to do so.
