South Korean mobile phone maker LG Electronics is reportedly looking at the upcoming LG G2 smartphone, the successor of LG Optimus G, as its sales booster for the second half of the year, recent reports on the matter suggest.

Apparently, LG officials have already confirmed to The Korea Herald that the vendor was betting big on the new smartphone, which will become its next flagship smartphone, and also the base for the development of the Nexus 5, rumor has it.

The handset will no longer sport the Optimus brand name, just as previous reports on this suggested.

LG G2 is expected to arrive on shelves with a 2.3GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor inside, 2GB of RAM, and a 5.2-inch full HD (1080 x 1920 pixels) touchscreen display, UnwiredView reports.

LG has already confirmed plans to launch the smartphone, but it hasn't provided specific info on it as of now. LG G2 should be unveiled on August 7.
