Finnish company Jolla has already announced the upcoming release of a MeeGo-based smartphone in early 2013. Although details on the device’s specs sheet are a bit scarce, it looks like the company’s officials have already started to reveal some info on their first phone.

According to Jolla’s CEO, Jussi Hurmola, their operating system will be fully compatible with HDML5 apps, Qt apps, as well as Android apps.

It looks like the compatibility with Android applications will be enabled through a software project dubbed ACL (application compatibility layer).

Moreover, Jolla’s official also confirmed their upcoming device would boast a larger than 3.5-inch capacitive touchscreen, though Hurmola did not say anything on the display’s resolution.

Hopefully, more details on the upcoming Jolla device will emerge soon, so stay tuned for more updates on the matter.
