This is the company’s first Android slate launched on the market

Indian company Intex has just announced the availability of its first Android tablet, the i-Tab. This is a budget-friendly slate, which is powered by Google’s Android 2.3 Gingerbread platform.

According to AndroidOS, Intex -iTab is available for purchase for only Rs 11,900 (235 USD or 180 EUR) outright. The tablet is equipped with a 1 GHz single-core processor and packs 8GB of internal memory.

Furthermore, the i-Tab sports an 8-inch capacitive touchscreen display, built-in GPS receiver, as well as Bluetooth and Wi-Fi support.

The tablet also comes with a 5000 mAh Li-Ion battery, 3.5mm audio jack, as well as several pre-loaded apps and services, including Angry Birds and Office Suite.

Intex also confirmed plans to extend its tablet portfolio in the new future with other models with 3G support, as well as 7- and 10-inch displays.
