Instagram is nowhere to be seen on Microsoft’s Windows Phone operating system, which will receive another photo sharing app in the not too distant future, but it might actually make it to some handsets running under the platform, rumor has it.

Soon after the Instagram logo was spotted in a Windows Phone 8 ad, rumors on the app being set to arrive on the platform started to emerge, pointing at a near release.

Apparently, the development process for the app is well underway, and it might have already entered the testing phase. In fact, the app is said to pack some new filters inside as well, at least this is what WPCentral reports.

It seems that Nokia’s Lumia handsets will be the only Windows Phone 8 devices to receive it, and that owners of WP 7.8 handsets won’t get a taste of it.
