When everyone had lost hope of Samsung pushing a Honeycomb upgrade for the original Galaxy Tab, the folks over at XDA managed to port the latest Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system to the old table.

Even though this is just the first Alpha version of the ROM, those who want to test it can now download and flash this build.

However, it is important to understand that this is a pretty complex process, which might result in bricking the tablet, so do this on your risk.

The ICS build was released by XDA forum members Angel_666 and koudaxi, so all credits goes to them. Hopefully, the ROM will be updated and improved with more features and fixes.

With Google’s recently releasing the Ice Cream Sandwich source code, we’re pretty sure that many other devices that haven’t been confirmed to receive this upgrade will get their fair share of unofficial ICS ROMs.
