Sony Mobile announced several days ago plans to start delivering the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system to the owners of Xperia U handsets, and it seems that the platform has started rolling out to users.

The first reports on successful updates to the new OS version have already started to emerge, referring to the ST25a model, which is the unbranded version of the device that was launched in Australia.

Those who own an Xperia U ST25i smartphone will have to wait a bit longer for the new software update to arrive on their devices, the guys over at XperiaBlog note.

In addition to Xperia U, Sony also announced the availability of Ice Cream Sandwich for the Xperia go and Xperia sola smartphones. In fact, Xperia sola has already been said to be currently receiving the update in several markets.
