The recently announced Ascend Mate7 is Huawei’s new approach on phablets. Unlike previous models, the new smartphone is almost fully made of metal-alloy and features a bezel-less design.

In addition to that, it comes in a very slim form factor (only 7.9mm thick). Almost the entire back side is made of metal, while the diamond-cut edges should offer better comfort and grip.

All buttons are made of metal as well. Given the lack of bezels on the left and right sides, it features an 83% screen to body ratio. Huawei Ascend Mate7 also packs a fingerprint sensor and users can set it to a guest mode for when they want to borrow the smartphone to their friends.

The phablet is armed with Huawei’s own chip solution called HiSilicon Kirin 925, which accommodates a 1.8GHz quad-core Cortex-A15 processor and another 1.3GHz quad-core Cortex-A7 CPU.

Given the large display and powerful octa-core chipset, Huawei included a high-capacity 4100 mAh non-removable battery, which should provide enough juice to get you over at least one day of full use.

Huawei Ascend Mate7 features 4G support and offers dual-SIM capability: 1 nanoSIM and 1 microSIM. The microSD card slot allowing for storage expansion (up to 128GB) is also included on the left side of the phone.

Software-wise, the Ascend Mate7 has been confirmed to ship with the Android 4.4 KitKat operating system out of the box, along with Huawei’s proprietary Emotion UI 3.0, which looks stunning.
