Looking for a nicely specced handset but you’re afraid you’re going to have to go all wise, money-wise? Well then, you might want to wait for Huawei’s upcoming mid-range smartphone which bundles an impressive power source under the hood.

The device has been code-named the G628 and will be made available soon in China, while customers in international markets will have to wait a while before getting their hands on it.

The handset is expected to arrive with a 5-inch HD (1280 x 720 pixel resolution) and a 64-bit octa-core MediaTek MT6752 processor which features eight Cortex A53 cores clocked at 1.5GHz fitted with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage.

MTKSJ says that the phone runs Android 4.4 KitKat onboard with Emotion UI 2.3 plastered on top. However, we don’t know whether or not the company plans to provide the Android 5.0 Lollipop update for the handset or not.

G628 also dons an 8MP main camera with LED flash plus a 2MP one up in the front. The phone is compatible with TD-LTE and TD-SCDMA networks.

Huawei’s mid-range octa-core phone will hit retail locations soon enough with a price of around $160 / €135. Hopefully, we will see the device make it out to other markets as well.
