Chinese mobile phone maker Huawei is getting ready for the release of a new Android-based smartphone, and has already confirmed plans to host a launch event on September 4 at the IFA 2014 trade show in Berlin.

The invitation that the company has started sending to the press shows a big 7 on it (the contour of a smartphone), which suggests that the phone we might see there could be either Ascend Mate 7 or Ascend D7, mydrivers.com notes.

Apparently, the mobile phone will arrive on shelves with a 6-inch display and an octa-core Kirin 920 processor, while also featuring and a Mali T628MP4 GPU.

Interestingly, two flavors of the device are expected to go official, one with a Quad HD screen and 3GB of RAM, and the other with a full HD display and only 2GB of RAM.

One way or the other, the smartphone should include a 13-megapixel rear camera, along with a 5MP front camera, it seems. The rest of the smartphone’s hardware specifications remain a mystery for the time being.

No confirmation on the device has been provided as of now, and it remains to be seen whether the report will pan out in the end, especially with Huawei recently suggesting that an Ascend P7 version with a sapphire screen might be officially launched sooner rather than later.
