Huawei launched its Ascent Mate 7 phablet back at IFA 2014, but the company already seems to be working on a successor for the device.

The upcoming model is reportedly called the Huawei Ascent Mate 7 Plus and a few pictures of it already surfaced online, giving us an impression of what we should expect in the upcoming months (as seen at Gizmo China).

The images don’t reveal much, but we do get to take a glance at the device’s screen which seems to sport non-existing bezels, if I can say so.

But the overall look of the unannounced device retains strong Mate 7 vibes, including the company’s back branding on the back panel and the position of the frontal camera, sensors and earpiece.

The current Huawei Mate 7 is a pretty worthy device, arriving with a 6-inch screen and a premium metal design.

The handset relies on an octa-core HiSilicon Kirin processor fitted with either 2GB/3GB of RAM and 16GB and 32GB of internal storage.

So it will be interesting to see what enhancements will be bestowed on the Mate 7 Plus.

Maybe the producing company will port the dual-camera technology from the Honor 6 Plus to the upcoming phablet. This is just speculation at this point, so you better take the information with a grain of salt.
