Chinese handset maker Huawei has just confirmed that the affordable Ascend W2 smartphone powered by Windows Phone 8 will go on sale in Europe this month.

The handset will be available in Russia via Svyaznoy for 8,990 rubles outright, which is about $280 or €205. According to GSMArena, the second European country to get the Ascend W2 is the Netherlands.

Other countries in Europe will get the entry-level smartphone in the following weeks. Keep in mind that Ascend W2 has been on the market since back in August, when Huawei released the phone in China.

The smartphone comes equipped with a 1.4 GHz single-core processor, which is accompanied by an Adreno 306 GPU and 512MB of RAM. It packs only 8GB of internal memory and lacks microSD card slot for storage expansion.

Last but not least, Huawei Ascend W2 features a decent 4.3-inch IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen display that supports 480 x 800 pixels resolution, along with a 5-megapixel camera on the back.
