The budget-friendly Huawei Ascend G300 has just received the long-awaited Android 4.0.3 Ice Cream Sandwich upgrade at Vodafone UK.

The smartphone was launched back in May with Android 2.3 Gingerbread platform out of the box, but Huawei promised an Ice Cream Sandwich update would be available at some point this year.

It looks like Vodafone UK is one of the first carriers to offer the update to its customers. Huawei Ascend G300 owners can manually check for the Android 4.0 ICS update by going to Settings / About phone / Online upgrade / Firmware upgrade.

According to Vodafone UK, the update is pushed through OTA (over the air) in stages, so it might take some time until all Huawei Ascend G300 receive it. Check out the official announcement here.
