One of the most powerful Android smartphones launched by Huawei, the Ascend D1 Quad has just landed on Australian shores.

AusDroid reports the device is now available for purchase via JB Hifi retailer for around $500/€400 off-contract. So far, Huawei hasn’t been able to sign any agreements with Australian carriers for the sale of the Ascend D1 Quad, so there won’t be any subsidy for this one.

Huawei Ascend D1 Quad ships with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich platform, but a Jelly Bean update will surely arrive in the following weeks.

Hardware-wise, the device is pretty impressive. It packs 1.4 GHz quad-core Huawei K3V2 processor, which promises 30% power savings.

Furthermore, the Ascend D1 Quad sports a 4.5-inch IPS+ capacitive touchscreen display that supports HD (720 x 1280 pixels) resolution.
