The handset will soon be available for purchase for only €45 / $60

Unveiled earlier today at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2014 trade fair, Nokia Asha 230 is the most affordable Asha device to date.

According to Nokia, the smartphone will soon be available for purchase in Asia-Pacific, Europe, India, Latin America, the Middle East and Africa for only €45 ($60) off contract. The Asha 230 will be available in both single- and dual-SIM variants, depending on the market.

It will come pre-loaded with popular applications such as LINE, WhatsApp Messenger and WeChat. Nokia has also confirmed that the smartphone will receive a major update next month, which will bring 7GB of free cloud storage via Microsoft's OneDrive service.

Nokia Asha 230 comes with a small 2.8-inch capacitive touchscreen display (240 x 320 pixels), a sub-par 1.3-megapixel main camera, A-GPS, FM Radio, microSD card slot and 1020 mAh battery.
