The first Windows Phone handsets arrives on shelves about a year ago, yet it seems that the first of them are already being discontinued, and that the HTC Surround is currently in this situation.

Wireless carriers AT&T and TELUS have both removed the device from their offering, and those who will try to make a purchase online, for example, shoudl know that they are out of luck, as Windows Phone Daily notes.

“The HTC Surround - Gray you're searching for is no longer available,” AT&T informs users. TELUS also announced users on the fact that Surround has been discontinued.

HTC Surround was not one of the most appealing Windows Phone devices in AT&T's offering, but other handsets running under Microsoft's platform might follow on its steps soon.

New, more powerful devices should hit shelves soon with the Windows Phone Mango OS on board, replacing the one-year old smartphones.
