Taiwanese mobile phone maker HTC Corporation won’t bring to the market a Windows Phone 8 device featuring a large screen anytime soon, it seems.
The company unveiled earlier this quarter an Android-based 5-inch smartphone, the HTC J Butterfly (aka DROID DNA), but will not launch such a device running under Microsoft’s mobile OS.
The main reason for that, according to Bloomberg, is the fact that Windows Phone 8 does not feature support for full HD resolution, but limits it to a maximum of 1280 x 768 pixels (WXGA).
Given this limitation, HTC felt that such a smartphone would not be competitive enough and decided to cancel plans on building one.
HTC was one of the first companies in the world to launch a full HD smartphone, though it loaded Google’s Android operating system on it.
