More rumors on the upcoming HTC smartphones have just emerged and it looks like the Taiwanese handset manufacturer has big plans for this year’s Mobile World Congress trade fair.

Chinese newspaper Commercial Times cites JPMorgan Chase analyst Alvin Kowk who says that HTC will retain its leading position over its rivals only if the company manages to deliver its quad-core smartphones that will be announced at MWC 2012, on time in April.

According to Kwok, HTC’s presence at Consumer Electronic Show will be limited to carrier-bound devices, but the company will announce its lineup of quad-core smartphones next month at MWC 2012.

It appears that these devices will be delivered with NVIDIA’s Tegra 3 quad-core processor, as well as Qualcomm’s MSM 8906 4G LTE chipsets.

Courtesy to the folks over at BGR, we already reported on the HTC Edge, possibly among the first quad-core smartphones to be announced next month at MWC 2012.
