The Taiwanese company is now exploring various options to make it happen

It looks like HTC has confirmed that Nvidia is to blame for its inability to offer an Android 4.4 KitKat update for two of its most popular smartphones available on the market, the One X and One X+.

According to the Taiwanese company, “without the support of our chip manufacturer Nvidia, it made a global update of One X and X+ devices impossible.”

However, given the fact that the One X packs a Qualcomm chipset in North America, this particular model is theoretically eligible for a KitKat upgrade.

During a Reddit AMA, the HTC USA Product Team has confirmed that while in the United States the HTC One X uses the Qualcomm chip and an upgrade would be possible, it “didn’t think it would be a good experience for our customer base to update the X, but not the X+.

This update caused a huge stir amongst owners and we’ve heard you loud and clear, so we’re now actively exploring how we can make the jump to 4.4.”

Hopefully, we will have more information on the Android 4.4 KitKat update for HTC One X (Qualcomm version) in the coming weeks, so stay tuned.
