One of the handsets that Taiwanese mobile phone maker HTC was rumored a while ago to plan on bringing to the market was the HTC One M8 Prime, a phone already said to have been canceled, but which could be replaced by a different, larger model.

A recent report coming from PhoneArena claims that HTC has indeed killed off plans to release the HTC One M8 Prime, but that it plans on launching a new 5.2-inch smartphone instead.

Said device will allegedly replace the HTC One max smartphone, though no specific info on the hardware specs that this phone might feature has been provided as of now.

One thing that appears to be certain, however, is the fact that the new handset won’t sport the high-end features and capabilities that HTC One M8 Prime was rumored to arrive on shelves with.

For those out of the loop, we should note that the device was said to pack a Quad HD (1440 x 2560 pixels) screen, a quad-core Snapdragon 805 processor, 3GB of RAM, support for LTE-A Cat. 6 connectivity, and the same duo-camera setup as the original HTC One M8 on the back.

No official confirmation on the One M8 Prime or the handset that will allegedly replace it has emerged until now. Hopefully, more will be unveiled soon, so stay tuned for additional details on the matter.
