Taiwanese mobile phone maker HTC Corporation is reportedly planning to include on-screen buttons on the upcoming HTC One+ (M8) smartphone, and could make a similar move for future handsets as well.

The info comes from notorious tipster @evleaks, who said on Twitter that M8 was bound to become the first HTC device to sport on-screen buttons.

There’s no official confirmation on this as of now, but HTC has been long rumored to plan on turning the upcoming handset in a worthy competitor for devices from Apple and Samsung, and chances are that this feature would help it achieve this goal.

Courtesy of on-screen buttons, the smartphone will allow users to enjoy more content on their displays, while also making the handset’s body smaller when compared to its predecessor.

HTC is expected to make the upcoming flagship device official in the not-too-distant future, so stay tuned for more on the matter.
