One of the handsets that were rumored earlier this year to arrive on shelves in the not-too-distant future is the HTC Eye, which appears to be nearing its availability date fast.

According to a recent tweet coming from @evleaks, wireless carrier AT&T is already testing the smartphone, which suggests that an official announcement on it might not be that far.

The phone did emerge online before, when it was said to arrive on shelves before the end of this year, exclusively on the network of wireless carrier AT&T.

Moreover, the smartphone was said to be designed as the “ultimate selfie phone,” which suggested that it would sport a large front camera, most probably paired with a series of special features that would enhance the self-photo snapping experience.

HTC One M8, the latest flagship device from the company, was announced with a 5-megapixel camera on the front, also with a focus on selfies.

No details on the hardware specs of the upcoming mobile phone have been provided as of now, and it remains to be seen whether it will be a high-end device or only a mid-range smartphone with improved front camera capabilities.

Hopefully, some additional info on the capabilities of HTC Eye will be unveiled soon enough, so keep an eye on this space to learn more on the matter.
