Owners of the mid-range HTC Desire 601 smartphone out there can now download and install the Android 4.4.2 KitKat operating system on their handsets, the latest reports on the matter unveil.

The OS upgrade has been expected on the smartphone for several weeks now, and it seems that HTC has already started pushing it out, though no official announcement on the matter has been provided as of now.

According to a recent tweet from LlabTooFeR, however, the platform upgrade is already rolling out and will land on smartphones as software version 2.14.401.6.

At the end of the last month, HTC started to push the Android 4.4.2 KitKat platform to Desire 601 devices in Canada, and it seems that the company is now delivering it to users outside this market as well.

In addition to being provided with all the features and benefits of said OS version, owners of this device will also get a taste of the Sense 5.5 user interface, it seems.

As it usually happens with this kind of updates, HTC will push it out in stages, which means that not all users will get the chance to upgrade their devices right away. However, it should be pushed to all of them soon, so stay tuned.
