The smartphone is offered for free on the carrier's $50 (€35) plan

Canadian mobile phone carrier WIND Mobile has added a new affordable smartphone to its offering, none other than the HTC Desire 601.

Users interested in the purchase of this handset will be able to grab it for free on the wireless carrier’s $50 (€35) plan, as can be seen on WIND Mobile's website.

The phone is priced at $99 (€69) with a $40 (€28) plan, and costs $249 (€173) on a $30 (€21) plan, the carrier notes.

HTC Desire 601 arrives at WIND Mobile with a 4.5-inch touchscreen display, a 1.4 GHz dual-core processor packed inside, and 1GB of RAM. It sports 4G LTE connectivity, Wi-Fi, GPS receiver, and a battery capable of delivering up to 9.26 hours of talk time.

The smartphone also features 8GB of internal memory, microSD memory card slot, a 5-megapixel camera on the back, and Google’s Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean platform with Sense 5.0 UI loaded on top.
