Taiwanese company HTC has just announced more than $100M (€735K) operating losses for Q3 2013, so things are not looking good at all for the handset maker.

However, it looks like HTC India has no intention of withdrawing from the smartphone market, even though it faces fierce competition from local handset makers.

According to AndroidOS, Faisal Siddiqui, HTC country head, said that the company would launch affordable Android smartphones in emerging markets in the coming weeks:

“There is a business case for launching sub-Rs 10,000 handsets. This is targeting emerging markets like India, Indonesia and China.”

Unfortunately, there’s no telling what devices HTC’s official was referring to, but at least Android fans in India will have even more cheap alternatives to choose from. Stay tuned for more updates on the matter.
