HTC stated about two months ago DROID DNA from Verizon won't be getting the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update, instead the smartphone will receive Sense 5 UI and Android 4.2.2 by the end of the year.

Well, this is somewhat true, as the Taiwanese handset maker has just confirmed the DROID DNA will be upgraded to Android 4.4 KitKat operating system by the end of Q1 2014.

This means the smartphone is likely to skip Android 4.3 Jelly Bean and will be updated straight to KitKat next year. However, it's unclear if this will be the case, as HTC did not mentioned anything on the subject.

However, the company did say the update may arrive sooner or later, pending certification from the carrier. Stay tuned for more info on the matter.
