The update won’t be released anymore at Vodafone Australia

It’s unclear for the moment whether or not HTC’s decision to cancel an important Windows Phone update has anything to do with Nokia’s acquisition by Microsoft.

The important thing is that Vodafone customers who own the HTC 8X will not be getting the long-awaited Windows Phone 8 GDR2 update anymore.

As WMPoweruser points out, the Australian carrier has already issued an official announcement on its website, which states, “HTC have advised they won’t be releasing this update. Any future updates will be announced as we hear of them.”

The recently canceled update has been approved by the carrier since late July and Vodafone Australia was waiting for Microsoft to start the rollout of Windows Phone 8 GDR2 as soon as possible, but now we know this won’t happen anymore.

Even though Microsoft has reiterated its commitment to Windows Phone partners, despite Nokia’s acquisition, it appears that at least one of its partners is not interested in supporting Microsoft’s mobile ecosystem anymore.
