More smartphones will be added to the list

HTC seems to be the first company to announce that at least two of its smartphones will received the newly announced Android M OS as an update later today.

According to HTC's Jeff Gordon, the One M9 and One M9+ will be updated to Android M soon after the new operating system gets released.

In addition, he also suggested that more devices might be announced soon, which means the One M9 and One M9+ won't be the only HTC smartphones to be updated to Android M.

Since we don't have an exact release date for Android M, it's hard to tell when exactly the update will arrive on HTC smartphones.

However, we do know that the final version of Android M will be launched sometime in fall, so HTC might push the update later this year.

Keep in mind that last year HTC promised Android 5.0 Lollipop update for many of its high-end smartphones within 90 days from the moment they receive the final build.

If they do the same thing this year, HTC One M9 and One M9+ owners might receive the update in late 2015 / early 2016 if Google launches Android M sometime in October. Stay tuned for more on this one.
